This part contents mostly concerns coding on VB.NET which will interacts with SQL server on pubs database. The sample database can be download at SQL2000SampleDb. You do not need to complete Part I before.
This post is the last part which gathers common problems along with solutions about accessing SQL Server using JDBC on NetBeans. By defer posting this a few months, I found many problems that may occur from many people and also solutions. So this post will benefit people who want to develop application to connect a SQL Server using JDBC and have problem with it.
By default, Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleation Server (ISA) will block any connection between internal and external network. If you have Symantec AntiVirus and it needs to update definition (or signature) from internet through ISA, The ISA will block the connection so that the program can’t update the definition.
As an Windows administrator, I always have to work with many Windows servers. Most of the time, I use remote access rather than go to in front of each server. This can be done easily because they’re the same platform. But sometime I also need to access Linux server from Windows XP, too. This can be done by using VNC. By default, VNC is alrealy installed on Redhat so I only need to configure it as VNC server and I have to install VNC Viewer on Windows XP. When enable this service, please keep in my that others can also remote to the server with this protocol, too!. So if your network can’t be trusted, do not enable the vncserver service. But in my case, I have firewall to limit only from my computer and the network is trusted.
Have you ever want to compare the difference of two text files? If the files aren’t too large, you can compare by open two file simulteneously and look the difference by your eyes. But what if both files contain many pages and lot of text, it would be painful if you do that way to compare files.
