| Useful Wordpress Plug-ins |
I have used Wordpress as my blogging system for a while. There are too many plug-ins for Wordpress available, you can’t try all of it. I found only some have useful for me or may be I haven’t try all yet(who will?). Here is the lists of cool plug-ins that I used:
- Add Meta Tags
This plug in adds XHTML META tags to help you put your tags on the blog easier. It’s useful in SEO term to get index by search engine better. By default, it use category name as meta-keywords and detail in post as meta-description without user configuration but you can customize them if you don’t like that.
You can customize tags on posts, pages, archives independently. - Adsense-Deluxe
This plug-in help you insert advertisements and manage when and where to display the ads. If you want to display ads from Google, goes and generated your own revenue now. - Customizable Post Listings
This plug-in display Recent Posts, Recently Commented Posts, Recently Modified Posts, Random Posts, and other post listings using the post information of your choosing in an easily customizable manner. You can narrow post searches by specifying categories and/or authors, among other things. There is a nice tutorial of this plug-in at Customizable Post Listings WordPress Plugin - Evermore
Have you see some blog that show preview of each post on th front page? This plug-in automatically displays short previews of your posts on your home page. Each preview includes a link to the full post. You can also customize the length of the preview. Often use with Less plug-in. - Less
The Less plug-in will make the (more…) link to full article, not just the part after the (more…). - FAlbum
This is a Wordpress plug-in that allows you to display your Flickr photos and photosets on your site. - Feedburner Feed Replacement
Using some WordPress plug-in magic, and user agent detection, this plug-in simply forwards all your feed traffic to FeedBurner. The plug-in will detect all ways to access your feed (e.g. http://www.yoursite.com/feed/ or http://www.yoursite.com/wp-rss2.php, etc.), and redirect them to your FeedBurner feed so you can track every possible subscriber. It will forward for your main posts feed, and optionally your main comments feed as well. - Google Sitemaps
This plugin generates a XML-Sitemap compliant sitemap of your WordPress blog. This format is supported by Google, YAHOO and MSN Search. - intouch
This is a plugin for WordPress which allows you to insert a custom build contact form, which on submission will send the information via email. - Related Posts
This plugin will output a series of “related” entries based on keyword matching. - Search Meter
Search Meter is a WordPress plugin that helps you keep your blog focused on what your visitors want to read. It does this by keeping track of what your visitors are searching for. - Sociable
Social bookmarking sites allow websurfers to save, catalog, and share interesting pages they find online. The Sociable plugin appends links for your readers to use those sites to the end of each of your blog’s posts, increasing your potential audience.

3. Customizable Post Listings
I’m just looking for a simple plug in that will let me list my posts in reverse order. First stays first. Will this plug in do that? I don’t need all the other stuff.
Thanks
James

Yes, of course. You can ordering your post by ascending or descending as you like. See the tutorial’s link that I gave at the end of the plug-in detail. In the function, see the ‘$order’ parameter.
